This is such a sad story. In October of last year, 13-year-old Megan Meier committed suicide by hanging herself. The investigation found that she had been battling depression, and that was made worse by a series of hateful messages she received on her MySpace page. The messages seemed to come from a 16-year-old boy named Josh Evans, but investigators found out that “Josh Evans” was a fictional profile made up by the mother of a girl who had been fighting with Megan at school. A grown woman engaging in cyberbullying – and it led to the suicide of a teenage girl. Many communities are now looking at passing laws prohibiting cyberbullying and making it easier to punish those who engage in it.
